About County Park Friends
Access to green spaces is a social determinant of health, but there are clear barriers to equity that must be addressed for our community to thrive. Through that lens, Friends invests in People and Places, centering community voice for the co-design of programs, projects and policies as the foundation for change. Whether co-design of a program or fiscal sponsorship of a park capital project, we are here to help YOU activate the power of our parks.
Treasure Cove Universally Accessible Playground
The Treasure Cove Universally Accessible project aims to develop a universally accessible (UA) playground at Jade Street Park located at 4400 Jade Street, Capitola, CA. The proposed playground will replace an existing and outdated playground that was installed in 1999 and 2007.

Access to public parks, beaches and public spaces is important for all. Park and green space acreage across Santa Cruz County is distributed inequitably. For example, there are 2.25 acres/1,000 residents in Watsonville vs 27 acres/1,000 residents in Santa Cruz, and that distribution disproportionately affects communities of color.
