Frequently ASked Questions

Q - How long are the applications open?
A -  Applications are one month each year, usually in Feb-March. Exact 2026 dates TBD - Check Back!

Q - How much does the Access Grant cover? Is it a set amount? 
A - Awards cover full tuition for a catalog program, including Learn to Swim or Pool Guards sessions. The average amount is $200
Q - How long do I have to use the award?
A - Until the end of the calendar year of award.
​Q - Who is eligible?  
A - Eligibility is first come, first serve and based on household income. If you are already eligible for Housing Authority services, MediCal, CalFresh, WIC, have Disabilities, are a Veteran, or otherwise are living at 138% of Federal Poverty Level, you are eligible first come, first serve until funds are gone.
Q - If I received a grant last year, may I apply again?
A - Yes
Q - May I apply for more than 1 member of my household? 
A - Yes. If your household is financially eligible, you may receive 1 grant each for your children, spouse, and self.

​Q - How many grants do you make?
A - We award first come, first serve until our budget is gone. In 2025, we awarded grants to 993 eligible youth!
Q - What kinds of programs are available?
A - Programs in the
County Parks Catalog
, including Learn to Swim, Pool Guards, Sports Camps, Day Camps
